RESON 6046

This package contains installation programs for the following software components:

• HASP Driver.
• Adobe Acrobat Reader.
• 6046 Payload Controller (PLC) and Data Visualization Utility (DVU).
• VNC Remote Control and Viewer.

General installation steps:

1. Log on to the target machine in an account with administrator privilege. This will be required to install all components.

2. If the HASP driver has not already been installed on the target system, install this driver first. The HASP driver is needed to allow the PLC to run. The PLC will also require a suitably programmed HASP key (parallel port or USB) available from RESON Inc.

3. Install the Adobe Acrobat Reader, if necessary. This will be required to read the user manual supplied in PDF format.

4. Install the 6046 software using the installation program provided. Three options are available as follows:

1. Typical — Installs the PLC, DVU and documentation

2. Minimal — Installs the PLC only

3. Custom — Allows the user to select the components to be installed.

Notes:

The 6046 installation program assumes the standard local RESON account (with administrator privilege) is present on the target system in order to install the PLC as a service. The service is installed in manual startup mode and may be changed to automatic startup mode, started or shutdown using Window’s Service Control Manager (SCM). Administrative privileges are required for these operations.

If the standard RESON account is not present or ill configured prior to the installation process, the PLC will not be installed as a service. The PLC may, however, be configured manually in any other administrator account after the installation process completes. Refer to the 6046 user’s manual for further details.

Independently of the PLC service installation, shortcuts in the startup menu and desktop will be generated for both the PLC and DVU. The PLC shortcuts simply specify the “-c” switch on the command line; necessary to run the PLC in console mode.

VNC for the Windows platform is provided out of courtesy for those customers requiring remote control of the operating system on which the PLC runs. This program and its reference material may be downloaded from the following site http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc.
