Hello! I was made aware of an opportunity for employment through Jill Zande at MATE. I’m a fourth year computer engineering student at Cal Poly who will be graduating in fall, and I am interesting in the position! I am using this email as my cover letter, and I have attached my resume. I have experience in the ROV field through MATE — I was a member of the Sea Sweepers ROV team here in Monterey when I was in high school. While on the team, I learned how to program as well as send data through various serial protocols before the team ended up on using RS-232. This experience gives me a unique perspective, in my opinion, and would make me a great fit in this position. I also have two years of experience at Aruba Networks, where I was an embedded software engineering intern. This allowed me to learn how to work in a team setting, and with a codebase that I was unfamiliar with. I was thrown right into the mix at Aruba, and these skills would be a plus to any job I have in the future. Although I do not have much experience with Yocto or ROS, these are skills I could learn relatively quickly. I am a quick learner and love expanding my skill set. I hope you will consider me for the position! I currently have a job offer from HPE that I need to respond to by March 1st, so I would love to hear back from you before then.
