Canon Meeting Notes 10AM Pacific Forum 16 Aug 2012 Platforms timeline: Spreadsheet link available at ODSS.MBARI.ORG (docs.google.com) Flyer and Zephyr now scheduled to get underway at same time: 10 Sept If the Flyer is late out of the shipyard, plans need to be re-thought Platforms: -Flyer doing lots of CTD casts -Zephyr/Dorado -ESP Drifter -Wave Glider -LRAUVs Tethys Daphne -Stella -Gliders -Satellite Zephyr to launch Daphne LRAUV, which will do donuts around the ESP drifter, then after Stella is deployed, Daphne to run transect from ESP to Stell Dorado to run without Gulpers, 18 hour mission durations contemplated ( 24 hour cycle ); goes into the water at the same time each day Possible times: Chavez suggested recovery at midnight, deploy at 6 AM Haddock favors recovery at 3 AM, deployment at 9 AM John Ryan to facilitate scheduling Dorado missions likely to be a straight line along transect which intersects successive Stella deployments Data issues Most platforms report to shore, except the ESP which reports to the Flyer Flyer uploads data to shore at 2 Mbits / sec Plan is to download Dorado data and dump back to shore over 128k / sec VSAT uplink or maybe WiFi to Flyer if it's in range or maybe throw footballs with Thumb Drives inside ( Bellingham wants LISST 100 data ) Getting the data to the Flyer is top priority, using Zephyr onboard Matlab processing to .png files being uplinked. Sending data files over VSAT is the backup plan. ( Chavez )
