Idea is to support more data transfer than AUV based Iridium, minimize AUV surface time, 
  work anywhere along the coast, simple to configure and operate.

Line-of-Sight comms, 900 MHz radio link to Dorado, also 802.11 WiFi link.  

Comms to MBARI over public telephone network, over the horizon with Iridium RUDICS.

Wave Glider platform is leased.  Energy available is about 10 watts.  Minimial or no customization of the platform is permitted.

New Dorado radio to be serial ... cruise by June.

Frederich asks about future Mesh style network.  Mark says it's easy to swap out radios.  
  Future use of DTN ( delay tolerant networking ) doesn't preclude a Mesh.

Kanna expressed concerns about the future use of routing commands from the Rachel Carson and Shore to the Wave Glider.

Discussion on software.  Plan to use rsync to "store and forward" files only.  "Freewave", 3G/4G, 802.11 links are planned.

Wave Glider Hot Spot acts as a TCP/IP gateway in "console" mode.

Future multi-hop capability questioned ... Brent says rsync supports multi-hop.

Discussion on Auto-Link.  Signal strength not the only consideration.  
 Danelle suggests during this year's CANON, keeping as much data as possible regarding file tranfer efficiency.

Ricardo via Skype says they use DTN, which takes care of Auto-Linking.

Tom wants to delay the detailed implementation of Auto-Linking until after 2013.

On Demand Link ... Kanna suggests John Ryan would be interested in " near real time data. " Not to be implemented for 2013.

Hot Spot / AUV link management.  Kanna asks how to keep " console " messages from swamping data.  
  Tom says AUV operators can over-ride data transfer if there's an operations problem while the data channel is saturated.  
  Mark says, in the past " syslog " was turned off.  Doug Au suggests tabling this discussion for now.

Frederich expressed concern about the routing algorithm possibly sending files from the platform to the Hot Spot to the shore, 
   then back from the shore to a different platform.
   Tom suggested the use of a " log table. "
