Hope things are going well up there.
We
are doing well here, we are busy doing a 40 to 50 hp upgrade for
Ventana this month – among other upgrades. One issue we have been
chasing is some behaviors of our ground fault board. We think most
of the issues are software related but we are making an effort to make
sure we understand all the details of the ground fault board hardware as
well.
We
purchase our GFI boards from you and have several of them. When
we purchased the last one a couple years ago you had a readable
schematic that was very helpful since our copies were very
difficult/impossible to read. I am writing to ask if you can look
for any set up documentation for this board.
Here is an excerpt from the old DTEC Ventana control system manual…
9.2 Water Alarm and Ground Fault Board GFIWATER:
The water alarm section of the board provides isolation and
amplification of the water alarm sensors. Each transistor buffer
has two wires attached to it that are placed a the bottom of the housing
to be monitored. When these two wires conduct through the
intrusive water the transistor is turned on and produces a digital
signal. This signal is isolated from Logic or other power supplies
and so is routed through an opto-isolator which provides a logic level
output to be wired into the GESIN board.
The ground fault section of the board is similar the system ground
fault board but is more suited to lower voltage circuits. In this
system it is used to monitor the isolated analog circuits that cannot be
monitored by the system ground fault board (because they are
isolated). There is about 25VDC placed onto the sense wire of each
circuit through a high impedance source. This voltage is with
respect to chassis ground. When this sensed voltage is pulled down
by a Ground Fault it reduces the voltage to the analog isolator.
The analog isolator is inverting which means that the lower the sense
voltage the higher the output from the analog isolator. 5.00VDC
output corresponds to a Short on the Ground Fault side and 0.00 VDC on
the output corresponds to an open or infinite Ground Fault
impedance. See the section on the GFIWATER board for more

Can you please have a look around and see if you can locate a copy of this Ground Fault board set up Procedure??
From
our initial analysis of the board hardware the tuning of the board in
the particular system it is installed into appears to be quite
sensitive/critical.
Although
your section 9.3 refers to an appendix on how to set up the board it
turns out that no such appendix exists in our manual. We are
hoping you have some documentation that would help us out.
