Steps to Set Up Internet Connection an NAL Research Corporation A3LA Series Modem with Windows Standard 19200 driver.

For Windows 2000

- From the Start Menu go to the Control Panel | Phone and Modem Options
- Select the Modems Tab
- Select Add
- Click "Don't detect my modem, I will select it from a list" and then click Next
- Select the [Standard Modem Types] "Standard 19200 bps Modem"
- Select the port you will be connecting to the Iridium modem on and click Next
- Click Finish
- Select the modem and go to the properties window and click the Advanced Tab
- Enter the string "AT+CBST=71,0,1"
- Click OK
- From the Start Menu go to Control Panel | Network and Dial-Up Connections
- Click "Connect to the Internet"
- Click Next
- Select "Dial-up to private network" and click Next
- Select only the modem you just created and click Next
- For the Phone Number enter "008816000023". Make sure Use dialing rules is not checked. Click Next.
- Click Next.
- For the connection name enter one that is easy to remember and then click Finish
- Click Properties
- Select the Options tab
- Under Dialing Options select "Display progress while connecting" and "Include Windows logon domain". Make sure the other options are not selected.
- Select the Networking tab
- Remove the checkmark from "Client for Microsoft Networks".
- Click the Settings Button and then uncheck, "Enable Software Compression". 
- Click OK.
- Click Cancel

For Windows XP

- From the Start Menu go Control Panel | Phone and Modem Options
- Select the Modems Tab
- Select Add
- Click "Don't detect my modem, I will select it from a list" and then click Next
- Select the [Standard Modem Types] "Standard 19200 bps Modem"
- Select the port you will be connecting to the Iridium modem on and click Next
- Click Finish
- Select the modem and go to the properties window and click the Advanced Tab
- Enter the string "AT+CBST=71,0,1"
- Click OK
- From the Start Menu go to Control Panel | Network Connections
- Select Create a new connection
- Click Next
- Select "Connect to the Internet" and click Next
- Click "Set up my connection manually" and click Next
- Select "Connect using a dial-up modem" and click Next
- Select only the modem you just created and click Next
- For the ISP name enter a name that is easy to remember and then click Next
- For phone number enter "008816000023" and click Next.
- A user name and password are not necessary. If you select the Internet Connection - Firewall please make sure it is configured properly. Click next.
- Click Properties
- Select the Options tab
- Under Dialing Options select "Display progress while connecting" and "Include Windows logon domain". Make sure the other options are not selected.
- Select the Networking tab
- Remove the checkmark from "Client for Microsoft Networks".
- Click the Settings Button and then uncheck, "Enable Software Compression". 
- Click OK.
- Click Cancel
