Volume Properties

“Volume Properties” is a simple program that augments the standard 
toolbox within the framework of SolidWorks to allow the user to 
calculate the center of volume of an assembly.  The code is an "add-in" 
and not a macro file; it operates from the menu as would any other 
SolidWorks command.  The software traces through the part tree, 
calculating the net volume and the center of volume for the entire assembly.  
The user may choose to select groups of parts from the assembly, rather 
than the entire assembly.  The user may also choose whether or not to 
evaluate “Lightweight” or “Suppressed” parts.  In addition to 
displaying the numerical value for the center of volume, the user may 
choose to plot an origin onto the assembly.  This origin will only be 
updated when the script is run.   

It is assumed that persons who use the Volume Properties design tool 
are already experienced in hydrostatics design, and are aware of the 
applicability and limitations of the formulas used.  It is the 
responsibility of the individual designer to incorporate a reasonable 
factor of safety and good technical judgment.   Bluefin assumes no 
responsibility for the accuracy of the formulas or the manner in which 
they are computed.

TO USE:

1.  Exit any SolidWorks programs and/or windows
2.  Locate your SolidWorks install directory
3.  Create a sub-directory underneath called “BlueFin”
4.  Copy the contents of “Volume Properties”--
    <Register.bat>, <VolumeProps.dll>, <VolumeProps.reg>
    to this directory
5.  Run “register.bat”
6.  Load SolidWorks.  When an assembly document is active, you 
    should see a new menu option called “BlueFin”
7.  Two menu options are provided.
	Volume properties to caluclate volume information
	Options...to set option for calculations 
8.  Note:  Go to Tools->AddIns; the program has been added to the 
    Add-in Manager (and may be toggled on/off from there)
 
Example:

SolidWorks install directory is <C:\Program Files\SolidWorks>
create <C:\Program Files\SolidWorks\BlueFin>
copy contents of zip file to this new directory...
double-click on <C:\Program Files\SolidWorks\BlueFin\register.bat> to 
install the program so SW recognizes it next time SW is loaded...

shall Bluefin be liable for any loss of profit or any other damage, 
including, but not limited to special, incidental, consequential or 
other damages.

You may not use, copy, emulate, clone, rent, lease, sell, modify, 
decompile, disassemble, or otherwise reverse engineer the licensed 
program, or any subset of the licensed program, for transfer outside
of the MBARI organization.  Any such unauthorized use shall 
result in immediate and automatic termination of this license and 
may result in criminal and/or civil prosecution. All rights not 
expressly granted here are reserved by Bluefin. 

Installing and using this software signifies acceptance of these 
terms and conditions of the license.

If you do not agree with the terms of this license you must remove 
files of this software from your storage devices and cease to use 
the product.
