If this goes forward I'd like to see that it does so in the context of a realistic assessment of our progress towards the delivery of the first vehicle.  I am trying to help by following the suggestion of Mark and Hans and leveling my allocation for the next few months -- not sure yet how that will go.

I would also caution against underestimating the effort involved in the innocuous sounding tasks of launch and recovery/tracking pole for Point Sur.

What about doing 2 or 3 single day missions from the Shana Rae during this time frame?  We could run one or two night missions for Steve, one or two day missions for John  (perhaps each day/night combo in one extended day).  We'd eliminate the resources required for developing LR, tracking system for the Point Sur, as well as the more extensive mob/demob for that vessel, not to mention having the entire crew at sea for the duration.   I'm sure that the sampling program would rather have a time series of AUV missions during the course of the week, but maybe a pair of "snapshots" separated by a few days would be almost as good, for significantly less resources.

what do you guys think?
