## MooringPPP-HOWTO

## This text describes how to configure a PPP connection between
## a Windows PC and an MMC mooring with Freewave radios.
## This has been tried using Win2000, your mileage may vary.

Make new connection using the connection wizard
Network COnnection Type (connect directly to another computer)
Host or Guest (Guest)
Select a device (Communications cable between two computers (COMn))
Connection Availability (all users)
Enter name

Open Connection
User name=ops
Password=brynner
Properties..
	General
		Configure
			38400
			(enable hardware flow control)
	Options
		(Display progress while connecting)
	Networking
		Settings
			(Enable LCP extensions)
			(Enable software compression)
		(Internet Protocol (TCP/IP))
		Properties...
			Use the following IP address (10.1.1.1 i.e., shore)

If you have an existing connection, but it isn't working, check the following 
property settings:

Properties

 General
  Communications cable between two computers (COM?)
  Configure...
    Maximum speed=38400 (or appropriate)
    Enable Hardware Flow Control
    Run script=Generic login

 Options
  Display progress while connecting
  Redial attempts=3
  Time between redial attempts=1 minute
  Idle time before hanging up=never

 Security
  Typical (recommended settings)
   Validate my identity as follows=Allow unsecured password

 Networking
  Type of dialup server=PPP:Windows 95/98/NT4/2000,Internet
    Settings
     Enable LCP Extensions
     Enable Software compression
  Components checked are used by this connection
   Internet Protocol (TCP/IP)
    Properties
     Use the following IP address=10.1.1.1 (shore)
     Advanced
      uncheck use default gateway on remote network
      check Use IP header compression

 Sharing
  uncheck Enable Internet Connection Sharing for this connection
