NEPTUNE cable system map. NEPTUNE will provide power and communications bandwidth via fiber-optic/power cables to junction boxes (nodes) on the Juan de Fuca Plate and surrounding areas. By connecting sensor networks to the nodes, with extensions onshore and offshore into the interior, scientists will, for the first time, have the capability to study a host of interrelated processes with high spatial and temporal resolution over long periods of time.
