MOOS mooring 2/27/02 meeting notes

Present: Jon E., Mike K., Ed M., Keith R., John R., Mark C. (notes)

1. Update from project scientist

John presented MOOS program poster at Ocean Sciences and generated good discussions with attending scientists. What's in a name? MBARI Ocean Observing System or MBARI Ocean Observatory? Inquiring minds want to know. John to resolve. Outside funding for 2003 science experiment. John interested in outside funding for 2003 ship time. NOPP program proposals due in April. Stress multi-organizational approaches to coastal observatories that have academic and industrial partners. Any possible industrial partners that can be suggested?

2003 mooring deployment schedule. Project needs to book Pt. Sur time for 2003. After much discussion end of October 2003 was chosen to allow maximum design rework time after test mooring deployment.
