1. PDR on tower, bridle and float held 3/4/02. See project website for documents and follow-up notes. Issues raised will be addressed by CDR.
2. Mike reports maximum lifting capacity of Pt. Sur crane is 3000 lbs. at full extension. Normal deployment requires nearly full extension.
3. Issue raised of what the exact location of the test mooring will be. Intention is to site as close to M2 as feasible. Action item for Mark and Mike to fix coordinates of deployment.

selection of riser cable vendor - TMT contracted to assist in final evaluation. Seven proposals narrowed down to three best technically. TMT is now modeling proposed cable constructions to verify vendor estimated working load cable strain and rotation values. Estimated completion March 12th. Goal is to have PDR on riser cable and snubber designs next week and place PO on March 15th. |

float design - Cannot be completed until battery box design complete. PDR raised issue of reserve buoyancy under survival conditions. Current design has 2.9% reserve buoyancy. One expert recommendation has been to have 50%. Mark Chaffey suggests 15-20% although final value should also take into consideration the maximum line pull that can be placed on the riser cable. 15-20% number can be met within our size and weight restrictions. |
