INSTRUMENT/PROGRAM AFFECTED: All ADCPs using antifouling grease. DESCRIPTION: The antifouling grease (Nopcocide) supplied by RDI to protect the transducers against biofouling can lead to drying and cracking of the urethane coating on the transducers. A crack may eventually develop into a leak. Exposure to sunlight and high temperatures accelerate the problem. SOLUTION/ACTION: When using antifouling grease, be sure to remove all the grease when you remove the transducer from the water for service. RDI is now looking for antifouling grease (Nopcocide) substitutes. ==============================================================================
