INSTRUMENT/PROGRAM AFFECTED: All ADCPs. DESCRIPTION: Dents in the perimeter of the transducer cups or at the edge of the urethane coating can cause a leak. If a leak occurs, the entire system is at risk. SOLUTION/ACTION: Use the following precautions when handling ADCPs. a. Never rest the transducer directly on a hard or rough surface. Always rest the transducer on a foam pad or cushion. b. When deploying/retrieving the ADCP, do not bang the transducer into hard objects. c. Inspect the transducer for dents before and after each deployment. d. If in doubt about the extent of the damage, call RDI. ==============================================================================
