INSTRUMENT/PROGRAM AFFECTED: All Workhorse ADCPs. DESCRIPTION: It is possible to completely lock up a Workhorse by operating at a high data rate in RS-422 mode. For this to happen, (1) the unit must be communicating in RS-422 mode at 115200 baud, (2) binary serial output must be enabled, and (3) the system is set for a high ping rate. We are still researching the cause of this problem. SOLUTION/ACTION: Until we discover and resolve the cause of this problem, you can take any of the following actions to work around the problem: Best solution: - Lower the baud rate to 57600. This problem has not been encountered at baud rates less than 115200. If you must use the 115200 baud rate, then one or both of the following: - Use ASCII output instead of binary output. - Lower the ping rate of the system. ==============================================================================
