---------1---------2---------3-'-------4---------5---------6----- (View MAXIMIZED or PRINT with a fixed font such as Courier 10 pt) ================================================================= BULLETIN FSB-114 - 1200-kHz WHADCP MAY FAIL TRANSMIT AND PT4 TESTS DATE/REV: 01OCT97 / 0 ================================================================= ABSTRACT: During the PA tests, 1200-kHz Workhorse ADCPs may fail the TRANSMIT TEST or may fail the PT4 test. INSTRUMENT/PROGRAM AFFECTED: All 1200-kHz Workhorse ADCPs with firmware version 8.19 or earlier. DESCRIPTION: Due to a recent hardware change, we found that the scaling of the circuit that measures the transmit current and voltage in 1200-kHz Workhorse systems is incorrect. The result is that the PA TRANSMIT Test and the PT4 test will fail. SOLUTION/ACTION: Short-Term: If the PA TRANSMIT Test fails, use the BBTALK program to run the PT4 test. The PT4 test transmits three lines of information: IXMT, VXMT, and Z. The results for Z must be less than 200 ohms. However, due to the hardware change, Z may be higher. If the results of this test are less than 300 ohms, your system is in good working order. Long-Term: In November, we expect to have a firmware upgrade that changes the specifications range. We will announce this new firmware release in our newsletter. =================================================================
