Subject: Agenda and Maps - Iridium Workshop

Details for the Iridium Workshop are nearly complete.  I will be on travel
next week so I am transmitting the status of the Iridium Workshop as we now
have it.

Attached are four documents:  A Draft Agenda for the meeting; a List of
Participants; a Proposed Working Group organization; and a PowerPoint file
containing three maps with the locations of the Hotel and the Applied
Physics Laboratory.

The agenda lists 17 presentations in the Wednesday plenary.  We anticipate
that everyone will be having material to be shared.  Each of the breakout
rooms will have projection facilities where additional presentations will be
made.  The plenary presentations represent a spectrum of applications in
order to identify the scope of existing and potential applications of
advanced telecommunications.  Every presentation during a meeting I was at
recently was a PowerPoint presentation.  We are assuming that everyone will
be using PowerPoint.  We can arrange for an overhead projector if anyone
requires one.  The other thing that is becoming "standard" these days is the
USB "stick."  We can accommodate a CD, however, if you provide your
presentations on a stick we can easily upload them to the projector
computer.  You can also Email your presentation (plenary or working group)
to me.

The participants list will have at least two, possibly three additions.  The
three working groups are based on the following:

Fixed Platforms - the need to address a variety of transmission requirements
including event initiated (e.g., hazard warnings) transmissions.
Mobile Platforms -   the need to incorporate positioning information into
the transmission.
High Latitude Applications - High data rate, high bandwidth.

The plenary sessions on Wednesay and Friday will be open to a general
audience.  The working group sessions on Thursday will be limited to the
workshop participants.  We are endeavoring to keep each working group in the
10-12 member range (one of the breakout rooms can accommodate only ten).
(Two participants in the Mobile Platforms group have teaching conflicts and
may not be present for the entire working group session.)  If anyone would
like to participate in a different group than suggested please just Email me
the change.

I should have access to my Email all of next week.
