  1. NAME

GFI Configuration - User specific configuration

  2. DESCRIPTION

This manual page describes the different user configurations for
accessing the CODAS applications and its GFI extensions.

  3. UNIX

User configurations for UNIX like operating systems are:

     Environment Variables
Environment variable CODASHOME should be set to the directory
where the CODAS software is installed.

     Path to CODAS Binaries
This is set in file /.cshrc or /.bashrc. The path environment
variable must be updated to contain the following directories:

        $CODASHOME/gfi/bin/HOST $CODASHOME/gfi/bin/perl
$CODASHOME/bin/HOST $CODASHOME/bin/csh where HOST is the host
        type the system is running.

     Perl Shell
Depending on systems, the Perl shell binary is located either in
/usr/bin or /usr/local/bin. Perl scripts in the CODAS package
and its GFI extensions will refer the one or the other. In order
not to get into troubles, one should have the perl binary at
both places. This can be done with a symbolic link.

Path to Matlab Scripts and Functions
Matlab m-files are located in the following directories:

        $CODASHOME/gfi/matlab/matlab50 $CODASHOME/matlab/codas3
        $CODASHOME/matlab/misc $CODASHOME/matlab/ctd

     Documentation
The GFI extensions to the CODAS package come with various
        documentation formats:

        Plain Text
Plain text documentation can be found in directory
           $CODASHOME/gfi/doc/txt and subdirectories.

        Manual Pages
To access the manual pages, directory $CODASHOME/gfi/man
should be added to the MANPATH environment variable.

        HTML Documentation
To get access to the main HTML page of the GFI documentation,
           open file $CODASHOME/gfi/doc/html/5/gficodas.html from an
           HTML browser.

  4. OTHER

Documentation for other operating systems is not implemented yet.
