*      modelID : model identifier                                  *
*         nww3 : global 1x1.25 degree model                        *
*         akw  : Alaskan Waters 0.25x0.5 degree model              *
*         wna  : Western North Atlantic 0.25 degree model          *
*      parID   : parameter identifier                              *
*         wind : Wind speed U and V components                     *
*         hs   : Significant wave height                           *
*         tp   : Peak wave period                                  *
*         dp   : Peak wave direction                               *
*      monthID : Month identifier in yyyymm format                 *
*                                                                  *
*  The data are packed in GRIB format at three hour intervals.     *
*  See http://polar.ncep.noaa.gov/waves/products.html#grib for more *
*  details. The kpds identifiers for the wind are 33 and 34, for   *
*  the wave height is 100, and for the peak period and direction   *
*  are 108 and 107, respectively.                                  *

*  Starting with the 2003 season, files what_modID_used.monthID    *
*  are aded for the hurrican model to identify which GFDL runs are *
*  included for each model cycle.                                  *
