The data reflected this as well with very little piston stroke resulting. Sept 4, 11:45:00 - Chain removed from corner after divers attached a line to the middle of the chain and we pulled straight up with the boat. The divers also noticed a small stream of bubbles coming from the weld between the hydraulic cylinder and its top flange. THis is a new weldment. The leak must be nitrogen making its way through two welds and out. Not sure of the rate, we are monitoring the piston "droop" before proceeding. In the calm conditions the voltages are below the cut in point for the larger converts, so we're making enough power, but we're not using enough of it to charge batteries. Lowering the loading may decrease the total power capture, but increase the mean current flowing to the battery. Sept 11. Francois C. and Mike C. dove on the powerbuoy to cut a spectra line that was left attached to the bridle during deployment. Also, they connectrf a hose to the gas spring's lower chamber to inject gas an oil, in order to make up for a leak. The compesator was at a position between the 1 and 2 mark. Also replaced the radio which had been brought in the previous week since the throughput had dropped to near zero. In addition to cleaning the coax connections, we changed the WiFi channel from 11 to 4. The radio reported signal strength had been -80 (dBm presumably) and is now -71. Also, the throughput is back to it's normal fast rate. There was some corrosion on the coax connectors on the roof, but we didn't change them out. If problems return that's something to look at. Jan 14, 2015 System recovered by the Shana Rae. - We recovered by having the divers attach a recovery line to the submerged plate. It came up with the keel aft, pointing at the anchor as expected. This was no problem, details that could make this easier would be an easier way to disconnect the chain bridle from the main tether. As it was we put a "noose" around the nilspin socket and held onto it that way while removing the big bolt and attching a line with a float on it so we could cut the buoy free while we recovered the anchor. Another detail would be bails on the frame in the appropriate place for the shana rae bridle hooks. We put slings on but that's another step. Jan 16, 2015. Checked Nitrogen and Compensator pressures before disassembly Upper Chamber = 136psi Lower Chamber = 159psi Compensator Pressure = approx 10psi. The pressures sensor maxes out at 5psi so we put about 8psi on the back side of the differential guage and then the guage read 2.5psi.
