5/2/2025 - AH We deployed the wave-energy buoy yesterday and it went pretty well, this was the first time with the two-point mooring so it took a little while. Some notes and impressions of the day from me while I remember: - After powering up the PTO there was no signal from the differential pressure sensor, this is unfortunate but not critical. I am almost certain I checked that while the PTO was in the high-bay, but am equally certain I neglected to check it while it was powered up on the dock. This highlights to me the need for a checklist. - The deployment of the buoy/PTO/heave-cone was standard, and easier because there was no anchor under the heave cone. - Deploying the mooring lines got complicated due to a mis-estimation that had the boat arriving at the western anchor location before we were ready. Recovering from this was complicated because we had been towing with the mooring line was half-deployed while we were towing. I think in the future this can be mitigated by keeping the tow on a short leash and setting up everything well down-range of the final anchor spot. On the second try we set up 700m downrange and then started paying out as we drove to the anchor spot. This worked about right, when we had the entire string out we still had 200m to go. We didn't start approaching from the 700m start point until we had the anchor set up to go off the boat, etc. On our first try we figured we'd have time to do that as we approached. - - ON 6/5/2025 we deploy the Spotter mooring 500m SW of the buoy 9/8/25 We dove to close the heave cone by hand. We noticed the oil compensator was completely empty so we refilled it to 60% full. We injected about 1 gal Nitrogen at 650 PSI in the bottom of the spring and it raised the piston about 14". We recharge the batteries at 1.25 A for about 1 hour.
