Power Buoy Spring testing (1Oct10, 1400 PDT): * Filled upper and lower chamber to 138 psi, then bled off upper chamber to 84 psi with piston held at 0 extension. * There is a pinhole leak in the lower chamber, so we disassembled the spring and had Frank fix the weld. * There is another pinhole leak in the lower chamber, but it shouldn't affect testing in the short term. * Moved piston to 36 inches extension and pressures are as expected. * Temperature is not changing much. * Calibrated position sensor. It seems to be off about %5 near the middle of travel. * Disconnecting Dataq digitizer from position sensor leads does not improve accuracy. * All moves up until now have been at 5 ips. * Moving from 36 in to 72 in to 0 in and back to 36 in at increasing speeds of 5, 10, up to 60 ips in increments of 5 psi. * Tests up to 25 ips are in "PB Spring Test 1", but file filled up and a new file "PB Spring Test 2" has the rest. * After testing was complete, we calibrated the force sensor amplifier at zero and full scale. * All sensors should now be working and calibrated, with the exception of the lower chamber temp sensor, which has an open circuit, and the laser rangefinder, which has an unknown scale factor and isn't being recorded.
