AIDS TO NAVIGATION Consult U.S. Coast Guard Light List for supplemental information concerning aids to navigation. WARNING - PRUDENT MARINER The prudent mariner will not rely solely on any single aid to navigation, particularly on floating aids. See U.S. Coast Guard Light List and U.S. Coast Pilot for details. CAUTION - TEMPORARY CHANGES Temporary changes or defects in aids to navigation are not indicated. See Local Notice to Mariners. CAUTION - DREDGED AREAS Improved channels are subject to shoaling, particularly at the edges. CAUTION - SUBMARINE PIPELINES and CABLES Additional uncharted submarine pipelines and submarine cables may exist within the area of this chart. Not all submarine pipelines and sub- marine cables are required to be buried, and those that were originally buried may have become exposed. Mariners should use extreme caution when operating vessels in depths of water comparable to their draft in areas where pipelines and cables may exist, and when anchoring, dragging or trawling. Covered wells may be marked by lighted or unlighted buoys. NOAA WEATHER RADIO BROADCASTS The NOAA Weather Radio stations listed below provide continuous weather broadcasts. The reception range is typically 20 to 40 nautical miles from the antenna site, but can be as much as 100 nautical miles for stations at high elevations. Mt. Pise, CA KHB-49 162.40 MHz WX2 TIDAL INFORMATION For tidal information see the NOS Tide Table publication or go to http://co-ops.nos.noaa.gov ADDITIONAL INFORMATION Additional information can be obtained at nauticalcharts.gov San Francisco Bay Region Regulated Navigational Area (RNA) Southern Pacific Railroad Bridge Regulated Navigable Area Between longitude 122°13'31"W (coinsiding with the charted position of Carquinez Bridge) and longitude 121°53'17"W (coinsiding with the charted location of New York Point. Eastbound vessels: (A) The master, pilot, or person directoring the movement of a power-driven vessel of 1600 or more gross tons, or a tug with a tow of 1600 or more gross tons traveling eastbound and intending to transit under the lift span (centered at coordinates 38°02'18"N/122°07'17"W) of the railroad bridge across Carquinez Strait at mile 7.0 shall immediately after entering the RNA, determine whether the visability around the lift span is 1/2 nautical mile or greater. (B) If the visibility is less than 1/2 nautical mile, or subsequently becomes less than 1/2 nautical mile, the vessel shall not transit under the lift span. Westbound Vessels: (A) The master, pilot, or person directoring the movement of a power-driven vessel of 1600 or more gross tons, or a tug with a tow of 1600 or more gross tons traveling westbound and intending to transit under the lift span (centered at coordinates 38°02'18"N/122°07'17"W) of the railroad bridge across Carquinez Strait at mile 7.0 shall immediately after entering the RNA, determine whether the visability around the lift span is 1/2 nautical mile or greater. (B) If the visibility is less than 1/2 nautical mile, the vessel shall not pass beyond londgitude 121°55'19"W (coinsiding with the charted position of the westernmost end of Mallard Island) until the visibity inproves to a greater than 1/2 nautical mile around the lift bridge. (C) If after entering the RNA the visibility around the lift span subsequently becomes less than 1/2 nautical mile, the master, pilot, or person directing the movement of the vessel either shall not transit under the lift span or shall request a divation from the requirements of the RNA as presented in paragraph (b) of this section. (D) Vessels that are moored or anchored within the RNA with the intent to transit under the lift span shall remained moored or anchored until visibilty around the lift span becomes greater than 1/2 nautical mile. Regulated Navigation Area (Liquefied Hazardous Gas) All vessels loaded with cargo of liquefied hazardous gas (LHG) within this Regulated Navigation Area must proceed directly to their intended cargo reception facility to discharge their LHG cargo unless: (1) The vessel is otherwise directed or permitted by the Captain of the Port. If permission is granted, all persons and vessels must comply with the instruction of the Captain of the Port or his or her designated representative.
