We were not able to use a red wire on the outboard side of the penetrator due to the use of the silicone wire in this one location. The wire identified with the clear heat shrink is the red wire on the internals. Attached are screen shots of both drawings, one for the high power plug that you are installing now, and the other for the high power receptacle that is already deployed. I have researched the revisions on the drawings as well and this has not changed. As a double check, you are ok. The wire with the label is the red wire throughout the system. Thanks Gene Massion Monterey Bay Aquarium Research Institute 7700 Sandholdt Road Moss Landing, California 95039 831 7751922 (tel) 831 7751646 (fax) -----Original Message----- From: Massion, Gene Sent: Friday, September 21, 2007 4:02 PM To: 'William Mudge' Cc: Raybould, Keith; Mellinger, Ed Subject: A different question Will According to the Alcatel documentation, they wired the cable conductor to "Wire Ref 1" which they describe as "Red or (white + red marking)" on the ODI penetrator. "Wire Ref 2" is described as "System ground" and the "white" wire on the ODI penetrator. According to the attached ODI drawing pin 1 is "white with red label" and pin 2 is white. Eveything sounds consistent right? Unfortunately, our penetrator doesn't seem to have a white + red wire. It does have a wire labeled with the number 1. This is such a critical connection I'd like to double check the following. 1) Is the attached drawing the correct Rev? 2) Is our wire labeled "1" the same as the wire shown on the drawing labeled "white with red label". 3) If you look at the penetrator face view on the drawing, it is possible to trace the wire noted as labeled "white with red label" to the pin on the opposite side of the penetrator flange "flat" (no bolt hole). Can we make this inference about which of the 2 pins on the penetrator dry side is pin 1? Anything else you can add to help us make double sure we know what pin is what would be appreciated. We did reference two different drawings though this discussion. The d/n 59043 is our detail drawing for the node harness published on the website and the excel drawing we sent last is the most recent MBARI drawing that I have received from MARS. I will check again to make sure they are correct. Thanks for double checking this for us. We made a harness for another customer for the MARS project and somehow managed to get the 400V and 48V swapped (through this wiring diagram business) and they had to send the harness back to be reworked. Luckily nothing was damaged but I always make it a point to double check these days just in case. Thanks! Note that the spreadsheet you sent me in your last message is also correct, but it doesn't match the drawing you referred Pat to back on Aug 27th (ODI d/n 59043 Rev K). Please correct all of your references to this pinout so we don't have multiple versions circulating.
