· The team is to be commended for the excellent quality and 
  thoroughness of the concept design work completed and for 
  the project review.  The only problem is that the selected 
  solution is expensive and very manpower intensive, but this 
  is exactly the reason why a well-executed feasibility study 
  is so valuable to the Institute.  As a result it will be 
  necessary for at least one of the existing AUV payload projects
  (multibeam, AUV CTD) to be completed before the level of 
  resources requested for this program become available.
· Recommend for 2004 moving forward with only the high-risk 
  test of vehicle hydrodynamics. Postpone purchasing of any 
  instruments, and reduce the labor request accordingly. 
· A higher publication output from the midwater group clearly 
  identifying the value of the 8-year history of video transects 
  would greatly help justify moving this project forward in 
  future years as other AUV payload projects ramp down.
