Jon Erickson has modified his lighting model to accommodate LED and 
laser light sources.  I will refine the model by adding scattering.  
Mike McCann has put together a spreadsheet for comparing compression 
techniques and Duane Edgington will add to it when he returns.  Jon 
Erickson has started designing a simple jig for a prototype laser 
source.
