Objects have a selection of properties that are common to all, these include:

• Object Index - set automatically by the system, represents the objects location in the layout database
• Object Type - all objects must have a defined type selected from the object library . When first created an object is of the 'un-defined' type
• Object Text - all objects have a text attribute which is used appropriately according to the object type. e.g. for a TEXT BOX the text attribute is the displayed text, for a LOGO object, it represents the image file name.
• Object Position - all objects have a position, defined as the top/left corner of the object
• Object Size - Width and Height
