Backup help
The Backup program is used to backup the control system software contained on the main server PC.

Introduction
The main control PC typically contains all files required to run the control system including configuration, initialisation and executable files. Typically these files will change throughout the life of a system due to:

1- Calibration data in database changing.

2- Software patches / upgrades.

3- Other configuration changes.

4- Configuration changes to or wholesale changing of onboard vehicle.

The server PC is typically identified as 'Node1' on the system.

Purpose

The purpose of this utility is to back up these files to a safe location (typically usb storage). It is usefull to create a backup of the current configuration mainly for disaster recovery purposes (i.e. any spare Server PC will have out-of date configuration files on it at the point of replacement).

This program can also be used for installing software patches from SMD.

Installing a patch

Step1- Copy the patch file to a usb memory device.

Step2- Use the Usb_man utility to start the usb device

Step3- Backup current configuration to an empty slot

Step4- Use the 'Restore' option to install the patch (note patch files have the format SP#_#######)

Step5- Backup current configuration to an empty slot

Problems

My patch isn't displayed in the source slot box

Check:

1. Patch name prefix is capitalised i.e. SP1_patch_name.tar

2. Patch has correct prefix i.e. SP(1-5)_patch name.tar

3. USB key where patch is stored does not have any other slot information i.e

          SB1_slot1_backup.tar     (Delete this file)

          SP1_patch1.tar                (Our patch)
