The tools provided by the layout design environment make screen layout design an easy process. Before starting it is useful to have a general idea of how you wish the screen to appear, what information it should present and how it should link/interact with other screens in your overall project. The design guide provides hinits and information about layout conventions and standards, which will help in the production of easy to use and understand displays.

The process of screen design follows a few simple steps, which apply to all objects that can be selected from the object library. Once this process has been learned, screens can be constructed quickly and easily as required.

• Add a new object to the layout - use the ADD function
• When an object is added to the layout, the properties window will appear automatically. The properties window defines the type and appearance of the object.
• Work within the properties window to set the appropriate settings for the object
• Move and Resize the object to the desired position of the layout, use the [ctrl] arrow key to finely adjust the position

These steps are all that are required to design a layout, configuration requirements for each object type are listed in the properties window when the object is selected. A number of the objects are more complex and require extended configuration. Each object type is described in detail in its own help section.
