A terminal program supporting 1K-Xmodem file uploads will be required. 1. Connect a PC running a terminal program to the modem serial port at 115,200 baud set to 8 data bits, non-parity and 1 stop bit. 2. Connect power to the modem and while the modem is booting press the ESC (escape) key. 3. You will see the boot loader come up with something like below: ---- Boot Loader version 1.x user:1> ---- OR ---- Boot Loader version 3.x (FFS-enabled) user:1> ---- 4. At the user promt type: (one of the following) setpriv root (For Boot Loader version 1.x) Enter passwrod: neptune OR setpriv update (For Boot Loader version 3.x) 5. At the promt type: (one of the following) update 0x200000 (For Boot Loader version 1.x) OR update boot (For Boot Loader version 3.x) 6. Follow on-screen instructions and upload the included "S-270-66....rom" file using 1K-Xmodem. 7. When complete the message "Verifying image... OK" or "Finished programming, verifying... OK." will be displayed. 8. Power down the modem by removing power or switching the unit off. 9. Re-enter the bootloader by following steps 1-3. 10. At the user promt type: setpriv update 11. At the update promt type: update diag 12. Follow on-screen instructions and upload the "S-270-67....rom" file using 1K-Xmodem. 13. When complete the message "Verifying image... OK" will be displayed. 14. Power down the modem by removing power or switching the unit off. 15. Re-enter the bootloader by following steps 1-3. 16. At the user promt type: update 17. Follow on-screen instructions and upload the "S-270-68....rom" file using 1K-Xmodem. 18. When complete the message "Verifying image... OK" will be displayed. 19. Power down the modem by removing power or switching the unit off. 20. Connect a PC running a terminal program to the modem serial port at 9,600 baud set to 8 data bits, non-parity and 1 stop bit. 21. Reapply power to the modem. 22. Enter command mode on the modem by typing +++ 23. At the user prompt type: VERSION 24. Verify the new version of code is loaded.
