E.g. use historical correlation data to continue CO2 injection in "stand by" mode if pH sensor fails. This has implications for electrical design; individual instrument isolation or not? Chaffey: would be very useful to know exactly which sensor failed. Davey: if sensor node is basic replacement unit, have to carefully think about how to group instruments based on their calibration/ maintenance cycles If some nodes are partially populated for the above reason, have to ensure that gateway has sufficient serial capability for many nodes. Davey: pump power overwhelms everything else. Chaffey: Coletti, McGill have been using DSL very effectively Roman: Can mitigate multiple-toolchain issue (gateway + sensorpod) by keeping sensorpod firmware generic, so that all sensorpods have the same firmware.
