Changed plan: WG will do 100 meter box. AUV will do Lagrangian survey on surface (nominally always in radio contact); box offset to southeast. 8:05 Hans and Fred discussing routes on trex. Modified route table on trex, to route between AUV laptop and trex. Hans assures us this will not affect smc-trex routing. 8:20 Leaving dock 8:55 First noticed carrier detect on console freewave 9:28 SMC and TREX clocks synchronized within 10 seconds 10:11 AUV and WG separated by 0.427 nautical mile – unable to ssh in or rsync (w/ 30 sec timeout) – 61% ping packet loss 10:20 Frederic accidentally erased binaries on vehicle – has to reload (will take about 1 hour). Stopped ping-endpoint to free up bandwidth for Fred's file transfer. 11:12 Fred's file transfer complete. Restarted ping-endpoint. 11:22 TREX mission started 11:31 Fred forgot to start Iridium – had to restart TREX mission 11:49 MVC syslog via Freewave active??? Needs to be disabled (add to checklist) 11:50 Sporadic internet connection past several minutes (cannot update ODSS or WGMS) 12:07 smc got ping response from trex. Start rsync test0. Timed out after 30 sec.. 12:09 Increased rsync timeout to 60 sec, restarted test script 12:10 No ping response 12:12 ping responses NOTE: Even though auv is “on surface”, it is submerged ~1 meter while thrusting – so no RF comms Getting multiple files transferred with rsync – Mark says wg-auv range is about 400 meters 12:43 logging problem – see log messages below: Wed Jun 12 19:29:48 UTC 2013 Wed Jun 12 19:29:48 UTC 2013 Pull files from trex to hotspot cache receiving file list ... 28 files to consider smallFiles/ smallFiles/xaa 50000 100% 13.71kB/s 0:00:03 (xfer#1, to-check=26/28) smallFiles/xab 50000 100% 24.69kB/s 0:00:01 (xfer#2, to-check=25/28) smallFiles/xac 50000 100% 6.81MB/s 0:00:00 (xfer#3, to-check=24/28) smallFiles/xad 50000 100% 32.21kB/s 0:00:01 (xfer#4, to-check=23/28) smallFiles/xae 50000 100% 1.65kB/s 0:00:29 (xfer#5, to-check=22/28) smallFiles/xaf 50000 100% 16.91kB/s 0:00:02 (xfer#6, to-check=21/28) smallFiles/xag 50000 100% 7.95MB/s 0:00:00 (xfer#7, to-check=20/28) smallFiles/xah 50000 100% 2.65MB/s 0:00:00 (xfer#8, to-check=19/28) smallFiles/xai [receiver] io timeout after 60 seconds -- exiting rsync error: timeout in data send/receive (code 30) at io.c(140) [receiver=3.0.7] rsync: connection unexpectedly closed (410 bytes received so far) [generator] rsync error: error in rsync protocol data stream (code 12) at io.c(601) [generator=3.0.7] got files: total 448 -rw-r--r-- 1 hotspot hotspot 50000 Jun 12 00:52 xaa -rw-r--r-- 1 hotspot hotspot 50000 Jun 12 00:53 xab -rw-r--r-- 1 hotspot hotspot 50000 Jun 12 00:53 xac -rw-r--r-- 1 hotspot hotspot 50000 Jun 12 00:53 xad -rw-r--r-- 1 hotspot hotspot 50000 Jun 12 00:53 xae -rw-r--r-- 1 hotspot hotspot 50000 Jun 12 00:53 xaf -rw-r--r-- 1 hotspot hotspot 50000 Jun 12 00:54 xag -rw-r--r-- 1 hotspot hotspot 50000 Jun 12 00:54 xah Wed Jun 12 19:34:56 UTC 2013 Wed Jun 12 19:34:56 UTC 2013 13:00 Getting pings. Disable MVC syslog S1. Verify WG position tracking at 2 minute interval (through WGMS, or phone call to LR)   S2. Verify clocks synchronized (within seconds) between SMC, MVC, TREX2. NOTE: Re-verify after reboot of WG or AUV. S2a. Verify password-less ssh from hotspot@smc to hotspot@trex   S3. Backup and clear /opt/hotspot/logs/* on SMC S3a. Start pppd on laptop:        % /usr/sbin/pppd /dev/ttyLX6 noauth 115200 192.168.1.2:192.168.1.1 persist maxfail 0   S4. In new laptop window, ssh into SMC as user "hotspot" via Freewave. Run ping-endpoint utility, and let it run continuously. It logs ping results to /opt/hotspot/logs/pinglog.txt: % bin/ping-endpoint trex S5. In new laptop window, ssh into SMC as user "hotspot" via Freewave. Will run rsync tests from this window.   S6. From TREX console (Hans machine?), verify that following files exist: /opt/hotspot/outgoing/smallFiles/x**.txt    (there should be 28 files, each file is 50KB, except for xba which is 44.739 KB) /opt/hotspot/outgoing/bigFiles/bigtest.txt  (file is 1.34MB) Procedure for each WG-AUV range in test   NOTE: Minimize use of MVC console radio during test!!! P0. At surfacing point, AUV establishes RF contact with WG (per procedures by Hans/Frederic). Leave AUV radio on.   P1. Ensure that ping-endpoint script is continuously running on SMC.   P2. On SMC, pull small files from TREX with /home/hotspot/bin/test-sync script:   % cd ~/bin; test-sync trex smallFiles point-n (where "point-n" is the name of an output subdirectory that will be created in SMC /opt/hotspot/cache/trex   The script loops over rsync in an infinite loop. At the end of each loop, the script lists the files that have been pulled from TREX. Terminate script (^C) when verified that all small files have been pulled, or when AUV dives. The pulled files reside in /opt/hotspot/cache/trex/point-n/smallFiles - verify that all files in that directory match the reference files in /home/smc/testfiles   P3. Verify rsync log from previous step in /opt/hotspot/logs/rsynclogs.txt P6. Via SMC Freewave diagnostics port, put radio into "setup" mode by issuing Shift-U; select "Show radio statistics", and capture output to a log file. Press ESC to leave "setup" mode. NOTE: rsync timeout value is set in test-sync script's OPTS variable, nominally 30 seconds. Modify if necessary. NOTE: On subsequent tests, pull bigfile.txt (1.3 MB).
