* Be wary of listed sizes of copper tubing because there's a plumbing standard and an HVAC standard, and the listed size doesn't match the actual size. The vendors don't usually tell you which standard they're using.

* Inner rings are made from "5/8 inch" type L copper tube, which has an actual OD of 3/4". These get cut to 1/2" lengths and attach to the cable.

* Outer rings are made from "5/8 inch" straight copper coupling fittings, which have an actual ID of 3/4". These get cut to 1/4" lengths and are soldered to the copper-clad board.
