# Dorado Bioacoustics Test Plan

## Goals

Assess the integration challenges of adding the Simrad wideband to the existing I2Map section. Each test will aim to evaluate the following performance metrics:

1. Acoustic noise sources
2. Electrical noise sources
3. Quality of new computing solutions

## Set Up

Only a single 333kHz and a split 200kHz transducer will be installed loosely in the volume below the camera in the I2Map section. Cables will be run to a bench alongside the tank attached to the WBT mini and in turn the wbt mini will be attached to the IB811 SBC. This system will be run from battery power, using the sample Inspired energy batteries. The SBC can be remotely controlled or run directly on the monitor/keyboards available. 

## Procedures

Tests will attempt to verify noise sources by running potential sources individually to start, and then test all components running simultaneously in the final test. Each test should require no more that 15 minutes each. For each configuration below, two tests shall be run: (1) using passive acquisition, and (2) using active acoustics modes on the Simrad system. 

The configurations are as follows:

1. Baseline: Just the transducers in the i2map section, no other components powered or active. 
2. Quiescent: Power up the AUV or just the i2map section, but leave active components off.
3. Pumps Active: Enable the CTD and its pumps, to determine acoustic noise if any.
4. Lights Active: Enable the lights and cycle them a few times during acquisition, also record video. 
5. All Active: Enable all components and evaluate the constructive noise profile. 

## Caveats

If any problems of noise arise, we have some further tests to help isolate noise issues, such as using other computers than the SBC to collect the data, but these are not present options for the final component selection and thus will be reserved for non-essential testing.
