Installation Notes

General

·        Radian Tool should only be installed on a computer, with the operating systems Windows XP with Service Pack 2.

·      Before V1.05.01.16 can be installed, any other versions of the application must be uninstalled from the target PC. The installer provides an automatic mechanism for identifying and removing other Radian Tool installations, however for earlier versions it's recommend to use the original installation CD to remove the applications.

·        If a previous version of Magnetic Field Mapper software has been installed, then the installation process will automatically uninstall this version.  This will allow the latest version of the Magnetic Field Mapper to be installed. This should be version V2.2.12

·        Depending on the operating system that the application is being installed on; there are various prerequisite components that need to be installed at the same time. The installer will automatically determine which of these prerequisite components need to be installed. Depending on the component, the PC may need to be rebooted in order to continue with the next stage of the installation. In some cases, the PC may need to be rebooted two or three times to complete the installation.

The following hardware requirements should be used as a guideline if Radian Tool is to be installed on a computer other than the Sonardyne supplied Navigation Computer:

Revision History of Previous Versions

V1.05.0.9 

  • The Radian Tool supports new firmware version 2.2 including support for new motion scenarios.
  • MagField Mapper and Radian Tool will both default to 9600 baud as this is the new Radian device factory setting.
  • MagField Mapper will now return to its pre-calibration settings immediately after a calibration without a unit reset.
  • The Restore Communications function in Radian Tool will now work in both 9600 and 115200 baud rates.

V1.04.0.5 

  • The Radian Tool now shows a 3D visualisation of 3 types of vessels.
  • MagField Mapper and Radian Tool now work together much more reliably at 9600 baud.
  • The Radian can now be mounted on a vehicle pitched up or down by 90º.
  • The Radian can be reverted to factory settings.

  • The device can be configured to run in an ASCII telegram output mode. Use this tool to configure the device to output up to 6 different telegrams. The device will remain in this mode even after re-powering the device.
  • The Radian Tool now shows a 3D visualisation of an ROV.

Known Problems and Limitations

Installation

·        In the event of an installer error, generate an installation log file to send to the Sonardyne Support. This can be created by running the command 'setup.exe /V"/LV* c:\install.log" '. However should a MSI sub-installer fail, this can be created by running the command 'msiexec.exe /i isscript.msi /l*v c:\subinstall.log', where 'isscript.msi' is the sub-installer experiencing the error.

Operation

  • If too many telegrams are active at high baud rate and high frequency, the Radian Tool software can have difficulties communicating with the device.  If this happens, use the ‘restore communications’ function or reset the unit back to factory defaults using the menu option.
