PE60.avx - the main extension. Place it in ArcView's ext32 directory 2. PNetESA.avx - extension called PE+ - enables the Profile Extractor to find a path in a network and draw the profile for this path. Place it in ArcView's ext32 directory (REQUIRES Network Analyst!!) 3. avdlog.dll - for those who don't have Dialog Designer. Place it in ArcView's bin32 directory 4. avdlog.dat - for those who don't have Dialog Designer. Place it in ArcView's lib32 directory 5. PE button - Initializes the Profile Extractor. The user selects GRID and chooses place for a temporary file. If PE+ is not loaded a warning message appears. The Profile Extractor dialog is introduced. PROFILE EXTRACTOR DIALOG 1.Grid panel - the text box contains the name of the current grid on click presents a list of all grids in the View the chosen grid becomes current. - Info button - gives some basic info about the current GRID 2. Settings panel - Sample distance text box - distance between sample points (default - the Grid's cell size) - radio buttons give the user choice between + single grid profiling with optional water level Water level text box - defines water level - default 0 + multiple grid profiling Set secondary grids button opens a dialog for selection of secondary grids. The way of selection is the same as from Grid panel - Draw end points - if checked start an end points of the cross section line are drawn. Start - green, End - red - Record elevation points - if checked all the points defined with the elevation point tool are written in a theme (either new or existing in the View). Note: While checked disables all other PE tools. - Show profile's characteristics - opens a dialog which displays some characteristics of the current profile - No profile - if checked no profile is drawn for closed shapes (in case someone wants only Cut Fill analysis) - Position profile - Saves the current position of profile's chart.The user can resize and move profile's chart window to suits his needs. After pressing the button this size and position is saved and used for displaying the next profiles. 3. Extract from panel The user can choose where to extract the elevation data from - the actual grid - the surface defined by the grid 4. Action buttons - Export - exports the current profile - Navigate - introduces the NAVIGATE dialog Note: The linear movements are along the line perpendicular to the current cross section line through it's middle point. - Follow - introduces the FOLLOW PATH dialog. Notes: The path is the current cross section line. The length of the cross section line to be moved along the path is defined in the text box provided. The cross section line is allays perpendicular to the path - Volume - invokes the VOLUME CALCULATIONS dialog. Notes: The type of calculations is defined by the type of the current cross section line: + in case of LINE or POLYLINE - treats the cross section as a dam wall and calculates the volume of this dam for the current water level. The user can choose the analysis extent. This option is provided to speed up the calculations (visible extent). + in case of closed shape (RECTANGLE, POLYGON, CIRCLE)- cut and fill analysis will be performed. The datum can be a plain with elevation defined in the text box or Grid(the Grid's theme should be in the VIEW). Use the Export button to convert the graphics drawn on the View to a theme. The theme's attribute table will contain the values for volume, area and perimeter. 5. Tools panel - Point tool - extracts elevation of a point. - Draw single segment line - extracts profile - Draw multi segment line (Polyline) - extracts profile - Draw polygon - extracts profile for the outline of the drawn polygon - Draw rectangle - extracts profile for the outline of the drawn rectangle - Draw circle - extracts profile for the outline of the drawn circle - Select-move-reshape tool - the user selects an existing graphic shape, moves or reshapes it. Elevation profile is drawn for the resulting shape. If the shape is closed the profile is for the outline. - Select from theme tool - the user selects a feature from the active theme. Elevation profile is drawn for the selected feature. If the feature's shape is closed the profile is for the outline. 6. Net panel - Init button - Enabled only if PE+ is loaded. The user chooses network theme. - Select path points tool. - Enabled only if PE+ is loaded and network initialized. User selects start and end poind of a path to be profiled. That's about all.
