Install Client Manager (full installation), and launch Client Manager. 2. Click "Select Computers." 3. Click the "Discover a new list of computers" icon. 4. Select the default broadcast address 255.255.255.255. 5. Click the "Discover" button and wait for computers to be discovered. 6. Click the "Discover a new list of computers" icon again. 7. The "Select broadcast addresses" field is empty. 8. In the "Enter a broadcast address" field, type 255.255.255.255. 9. Click Add. 10. An error message appears stating, "You have entered a broadcast address that is already in the list. It was not added." Workaround #1: Select any other item in the left pane, then return to the "Select Computers" page. You can now use the Discover option again, but only once. The information disappears again after using Discover. (Using Refresh does not refesh the broadcast address.) Workaround #2: Upgrade to Internet Explorer 5.01 or later. _____________________________________________________________ Issue Summary (50071/50442): On computers that support SMBUS, the error message "The file 'SMBUS.VXD' or (Unknown) could not be found" appears when reinstalling Client Manager. Steps to reproduce: 1. Install Client Manager on an SMBUS computer and reboot. 2. Uninstall Client Manager and reboot. 3. Install Client Manager again and reboot. 4. During bootup, the SMBUS.VXD error appears. Workaround: Specify the path to the SMBUS.VXD driver, such as \WINDOWS\SYSTEM (for Windows 95/98SE) or \WINNT\SYSTEM32 (for Windows NT). _____________________________________________________________ Client Manager documentation Client Manager documentation is available in three formats: HTML online Help: The online Help (and the Client Manager product) requires Internet Explorer 5.0 or later. Client Manager System requirements To run Client Manager (client or administrator version) on a computer, the computer must comply with these system requirements: • Windows* 95 OSR2.5/98SE/2000, or Windows NT* v4.x (Service Pack 6a or later) • Pentium(r) microprocessor or higher • 16 MB of RAM for Windows 95/98; 24 MB of RAM for Windows NT (32 MB recommended) • 100 MB of available hard disk space to install • 40-100 MB of available hard disk space to run (depending on cluster size) • TCP/IP (to run Client Manager in the Internet Explorer browser) • A network adapter or modem (the computer must be connected to a network) • Internet Explorer 5.0 or later • A monitor resolution of 600x800, 256 colors or greater Running Client Manager Setup Using a single Client Manager Setup program, you can install the client software, the administrator software, or both. If you want to install both the client and administrator versions, the best solution is to perform one installation and select Full on the Setup Type screen. Alternatively, you can install the client version and then install the administrator version at a later time (without uninstalling the client version). Note: Client Manager Setup does not support installing the client-only version on a computer after an administrator version has been installed. To run Client Manager Setup 1. Log on as Administrator or equivalent (if installing on Windows NT). 2. From the Client Manager CD, run SETUP.EXE and follow the instructions on your monitor. Note: If your network uses a proxy server to connect to the Internet, Client Manager must be able to bypass the network's proxy server for local (intranet) communication. To set this up: in Internet Explorer 5.x, click View | Internet Options and the Connection tab. If "Access the Internet using a proxy server" is selected, you must also select Bypass proxy server for local (intranet) addresses.
