The retrieval code SFIT2 has been jointly developed by NASA Langley Research Center and the National Institute for Water \&
Atmosphere, New Zealand. The code can retrieve the Volume Mixing Ratio (VMR) profiles of minor species from ground-based FTIR
spectra. However, retrieved FTIR VMR profiles, with the exception of O$_3$, have yet to be well validated with other
correlative data. We retrieved VMR profiles of N$_2$O and HNO$_3$ from ground-based FTIR spectra at Kiruna (67.8$^\circ$N,
20.4$^\circ$E), Sweden by using the SFIT2 version 3.8. As validation data, we used the already validated satellite data from
the ILAS onboard the ADEOS from November, 1996 to July, 1997. The criteria for comparison between FTIR and ILAS were as
follows; (1) distance between Kiruna and observed point by ILAS is less than 500 km, (2) difference in observation time is
less than 12 hours, and (3) difference in potential vorticity (PV) is less than 2 PV-unit at potential temperature of 475 K.
The numbers of spectra that we used for comparison of N$_2$O and HNO$_3$ were 32 (12 days) and 91 (18 days), respectively.
The results showed that retrieved and ILAS VMR profiles agreed within $\pm$10% (altitude: 10--21 km) and within $\pm$20%
(14--22 km) for N$_2$O and HNO$_3$, respectively.
