Over the past decade, there has been an increasing awareness and interest in integrating research experiences into the
undergraduate curriculum. A number of successful models are emerging and elements of these models are being adapted by
departments and institutions to meet the needs of their students and reflect their teaching and learning environments. This
presentation will focus on successful strategies and describe department and institutional approaches to broaden the
participation of undergraduates in research. It will also provide an overview of the programs and opportunities available to
students at Buffalo State College and attempt to identify those features that work, do not work, and why.
