AB: Measurements in the infrared atmospheric transmission windows taken on the MODIS instrument on AQUA, along with that on TERRA, provide accurate measurements of the skin surface temperature of the ocean. Details of the instrumental corrections and atmospheric correction algorithms that are applied to derive sea-surface temperature will be given along with results of validation studies that provide estimates of the uncertainties in the derived fields.
