An attempt to measure simultaneously the water propagation, a result of a series of ponded infiltration experiments, and the
TDR and multi electrode profiling and georadar characteristics was performed in the experimental area Na Lizu, a part of in
the experimental watershed Sputka, Czech Republic. The experiment was done during a dry period in the middle of July 2002.
The soil profile is formed by coarse sandy loam of the depth of approximately 1 m over weathered crystalline bedrock, the
ground water level is not present. The soil is heterogeneous and therefore the significant preferential flow is expected.
The 12 ponded infiltrations were done in a regular grid of a square area of 10 x 10 m.
For geophysical measurements various geometry of measuring schemes were tested since it was a pioneering attempt to couple
these types of measuring techniques. From TDR the detailed distribution of electric permitivity along the vertical axis was
obtained in time during the infiltration experiment. The multi electrode profiling gives as a result the vertical
stratification of resistivity, the parameter expected to reflect changes of water content.
In tracing the amount of downwards moving water the TDR and multi electrode profiling supplied promising information,
meanwhile the sensitivity of georadar was not sufficient to detect the soil moisture changes.
