TI: Simulation of the Burridge-Knopoff Model with Long-Range Interactions

AB: We simulate the Burridge-Knopoff model in one dimension for various interaction ranges. The computed size distribution of the events shows that the scaling range of the nearest-neighbor model is poorly defined. For longer range interactions, our results suggest that the existence of two scaling regions, corresponding to different types of events. The scaling regions become better defined as the interaction range increases.
