AB: Ocean motions that has High Frequency (HF) with periods less than 20 days are aliased in the TOPEX and JASON measurement of sea level heights. Previous research has showed that most of these motions have a barotropic signals especially in high latitudes and a barotropic model is needed to dealiase these signals. We are visiting back this subject in which we show that in the tropics there are HF motions that cannot be captured by a barotropic model. Hence, a baroclinic model is needed for the removal of HF signals from the sea level height spectrum observed by satellite altimetry.
