We employ an empirical model to study the effects of the energy released into the atmospheric system during the course of the
storms of April 14-24, 2002. The NOAA-Data Climatology is a statistical model of precipitating electrons based on 10 years
of NOAA-12 Space Environment Monitor (SEM) data. For each hour of UT, the electron spectral shape is defined for solar
activity (using F10.7), geomagnetic activity (using Dst, Kp, and PC), invariant latitude (40\deg to 90\deg N and -40\deg to
-90\deg S), and magnetic local time. The climatology includes the precipitating differential fluxes determined from the
integral high-energy telescopes of SEM and its low-energy differential measurements. In addition to total global energy
input, the spectral information contained in the model enables computations of ionization rate profiles and Hall and Peterson
conductivities. We compare these quantities with measurements from low altitude spacecraft and ground-based observatories;
and, with global circulation modeling, we obtain height profiles of reactive constituents at selected intervals during the
storm.
