TI: Exploring the Inner Magnetosphere with the Magnetospheric Multiscale Phase I Orbit

We discuss the use of the unique space-time separated measurements that will obtained by the Magnetospheric Multiscale (MMS)
Solar Terrestrial Probe mission for better understanding the dynamics of the terrestrial inner magnetosphere. The first
phase of MMS will involve a low inclination orbit approximately 1.2 X 12 earth radii geocentric. The MMS primary science
goals center on measurements made at the outer part of this orbit. However measurements will also be possible during the
inner part of the orbit which would allow studies of microscale processes of importance to inner magnetospheric dynamics. We
will discuss the applicability of these observations to the objectives of the Living With A Space Geospace program
