The fully kinetic theory of mirror waves accounting for the finite ion Larmor radius effects is developed. Their influence
on the wave polarization both in uniform and nonuniform plasmas is discussed. Theoretivcal results have been compared with
multi-satellite observations of mirror waves in the terrestrial magnetosheath.
