TI: Geomagnetic Storm Induced Infrasonic Waves at Low Latitude

The continuous measurements of the surface pressure variation at low latitude station, Tirunelveli (8.7{$\deg$}N,
77.8{$\deg$}E), India has provided the opportunity to study the influence of geomagnetic storm on the tropospheric infrasonic
waves. The polar ionosphere is the major source of infrasonic waves during severe geomagnetic storms. These waves propagate
towards the equatorial latitude and is being deducted by the array of microbarograph. The infrasonic waves produced during
severe magnetic storm (viz. 24 March 02, 20 Apr 02, 11 May 02, 23 May 02, 2 Aug 02, 4 Spt 02, 1 Oct 02, and 21 Nov 02) has
been studied. The power spectral density obtained during these period shows the pronounced presence of waves of period about
10 seconds. The significant enhancement of microbarom has also been obtained in the present work. This could be due to the
magnetic storm induced enhancement of ocean waves. The detailed results will be presented during the workshop.
