TI: Low Temperature Gas-liquid Partitioning in Formaldehyde Solutions

AB: Recently, the snowpack in the Arctic and Antarctic has been identified as a photochemically active source for volatile species. Mechanisms, both physical and chemical, for the production of these gas phase species are poorly characterized. To obtain a better understanding of the physical mechanism controlling formaldehyde (HCHO) concentrations within the air above the snowpack, the gas-water equilibrium partitioning (Henry's law) was studied in the laboratory at low temperatures. Temperatures range from 257 to 273K.
