AB: In the first year of a multi-year study, air-sea CO2 flux was measured in the coastal Beaufort Sea using an eddy covariance instrument tower deployed on the north shore of Cooper Island, a barrier island east of Barrow, Alaska. Net flux is estimated for the ice-free months of July through August 2005. Relationships between flux and both PAR and wind speed are described, and the conditions under which each is an important driver of flux are discussed.
