Tropopause data from 1960s to 2002 based on radiosonde provided by Climatic Data Center, National Meteorological Information
Center, China Meteorological Administration are used to analyze the statistics of the tropopause over China. Analyses show
that the seasonal variation of tropopause height and temperature depends not only on the latitude, but also the longitude.
The tropopause height is higher and correspondingly the tropopause temperature is colder in the western part of China,
especially in the winter. The long-term change of the tropopause height over China is dominated by positive trend, and the
long-term change of the tropopause temperature is mainly negative. The trend over the south-west part of China is larger than
other areas: the height trend here is over 150 m/dec, and the temperature trend is below -0.8 K/dec.
The relation between the tropopause height and total ozone column is also analyzed.
